Deep Vein Thrombosis DVT
Beacon Medical Services provides a one stop community Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) service, comprising of treatement of suspected or actual DVTs.
Once a below the knee DVT is suspected and it is not subject to the exclusion criteria, GPs can refer patients to either of the clinics below. Beacon staff will contact patients within 30 minutes to organise their appointment and scan.
Patients who have DVT diagnosed in one of our community clinics can avoid the stress of going into hospital. Instead they are able to attend a conventional local surgery for their treatment, where the service is delivered by our caring and experienced staff.
- Under 18 years of age
- 2 weeks HSC suspected cancer
- Already on anticoagulation drugs
- Co-morbid diseases which preclude ambulatory management
- Estimated EGFR less than 30ml/min
- Leg trauma
- Diabetes and on insulin

Referrals can be received via EMIS Web directly, using Beacon Medical Services Group DVT template. For EMIS Web referrals you will need to have a sharing agreement with BMSG, which can be obtained from BMSG.firstname.lastname@example.org or call the number above to arrange.

Clincs are held during weekday afternoons, between 1pm-5pm. Appointments and any necessary scans will be completed on the day of the referral. Patients that arrive after 5pm will be asssed but may have to be scanned on the following day.
